Sometimes craving something sweet can lead you to unhealthy options, but here I’m happy to say that there’s a healthier alternative! This is the recipe for strawberry oatmeal bars.
ORIGIN OF OATMEAL BARS
The origin of the oatmeal bar is called a “flapjack”. These oatmeal bars are baked bars that are cut into square or rectangular pieces. They’re typically made out of rolled oats, butter, and sugar.
The term “flapjack” was made during the 16th century and was considered a popular snack in the United Kingdom. Nowadays, however, it’s mostly known more as oat bars/oatmeal bars.
STRAWBERRY OATMEAL BARS
Oatmeal bars are great snacks to have whenever you crave something sweet. They’re not too heavy and since they're mostly oatmeal, they’re very high in fibre and minerals. Which is why I’ve decided to make this recipe.
For this recipe, I’ve decided to add some strawberry jam in the middle so it adds extra flavour and tanginess. The oatmeal bar itself is crunchy and sweet and so with the strawberry jam, it adds another texture of gooeyness.
In some cases, your bars can be quite crumbly, so make sure that after you bake them, let the bars set completely in the fridge for at least 2 hours. This ensures the structure of your bars before cutting and serving them.
HOW TO SERVE STRAWBERRY OATMEAL BARS
Once baked, these bars need to be cooled completely before cutting. You need to cut this by using a knife that’s dipped in hot water. These will result in cleaner cuts in-between each bar since the strawberry jam is very sticky after baking.
These go great as a breakfast option, a snack for an afternoon tea or for when you’re on-the-go.
You don’t even need too many tools to make this recipe, so every home cook should ble to make it. This recipe is very simple and easy to follow so don’t wait around and go try these out for yourself!
